In your words mr “unix sheikh”,

I will not be polite and call it something else because it is truly sheer stupidity

Good words mr unix sheikh because you’re the stupid one.

I’m referring to your post which somehow made it to the hacker news front page. I guess you’re not the only stupid one.

https://unixsheikh.com/articles/is-the-madness-ever-going-to-end.html

You complain about 2 things:

There’s too much complexity in modern systems. I agree. In my new job, I’m currently spending months undoing the complexity of my predecessors.

But then you get it all wrong when you complain that the reason complexity is a problem is because it means inefficient usage machine resources with some choice quotes.

  • “which now makes the application load four times as slow.”

  • “very quickly render the page with what you give it. But no. Let's not do that.”

  • “So, now your simple news article or blog post takes ages to load on a 1 gigabit connection and requires about 3 times as much electrical power even though you're only”

And then you have the audacity to claim to be a unix sheikh!? Have you ever read Kernighan. Ever? TAOUP sums this up best:

Rule of Economy: Programmer time is expensive; conserve it in preference to machine time.

This is why we have JS, React, and don’t write HTML by hand. Because we want to code faster.

This is why complexity is so awful because people build these rats nests which they can’t debug and can’t extend. They write a piece of software which just doesn’t work.

So stop complaining and go write some good code.

sometimes you make good posts... this was not one of them. It's like a bad rant which is criticizing the way someone says something instead of being dialectic
